if you happen to have a copy of Today nowadays, you'll realise there's this page where it advertises for the donation to the touching lives fund. at the corner of the page there is this red rect box where you can cut out. beside it are instructions to what to do with it. basically all you have to do is to follow the instructions, fold out that "heart", throw it into the mail and they (Today??) will donate $1 to the fund. i guess there's no harm doin that, you don't even have to donate any money to help out. so pple out there, please help and drop it into the postbox by 7 August 2005.
for others who are really generous and wish to donate can visit http://www.singtel.com/touchinglives.

As promised, these are the photographs that i took in Bangkok. We din take much photos cos most of the time were spent on shopping. (i took a lot of photographs of the clouds thou) It's really a shopping paradise! I love it there so much that i wana go there again.
*Am not really putting alot of photos cos photobucket's really slow today*
03 July 2005
Left Singapore at 0925... Valuair very punctual! Following later than me was Weirong. It was such a coincidence that he was flying to Bangkok on the same day as me as well! (Weirong, you said we wld be able to meet in Bangkok, apparently not... hee...)
Bird's eye view of Sg

Reached Bangkok airport at 1110 Bangkok time. They are one hr behind us. Had a little trouble looking for the tour agency cos the airport's really crowded with diff agencies looking for their guests. Reached the hotel (Bangkok Palace Hotel). Hmm... Wat can i say about this hotel??? I'm not really pleased with the hotel cos it appeared to be different from what i saw from the webbie. The room was small. The bath tub was extrememly low. It wasn't the normal height. The flushing system of the toilet wasn't gd. I had to flush 4 times in order for all the toilet paper to go down (and guess what? I was only peeing). Darn, i shld have taken a photo of that... Anyway, the hotel staff still told me that my room was an upgrade to a deluxe room. Can you imagine if i stayed in their superior room???
Oh well, shldn't complain too much. At least there's one thing gd thou. And that is the room service. It's really cheap. The food's not bad... So i didn't need to go to 7-11 to stock up drinks and food.
First destination: Chatuchak Weekend Market.
It's freaking big! Took the skytrain there. It was a long walk from the hotel to the station. The nearest station from my hotel was Chitlom.
Chitlom sky train station
Initially, dearie and i went into the mkt and started walking to each and every store till we realised that there are 9000 over stalls there. At the rate we were shopping, we could not finish even one section of it. So we decided to walk and skip some stalls. The things there are really cheap! It's fun to be able to bargain for the stuff. Knowing that you're a tourist, they will as wat they say in chinese, kan(3) cai(4) tou(2). so you have to bargain all your way thru.
Things din go as what we planned cos dearie and i din expect that we wld spend such a long time in Chatuchak. So we left there ard dinner time. Our next destination was MBK shopping Center. It's a very big shopping center where bargaining is allowed too (for most of the stalls). Was really tired, so we shopped only a little after dinner in a Jap restaurant and continued our journey the next day.

we left the tv on the whole night, only realising it when we woke up. Had a nice warm bubble bath. Decided to sight see instead of just shopping. When we got out of the hotel, there was this friendly tuk-tuk driver who offered to bring us to our destination (Grand Palace) including some of the other temples. The price that he gave us was high. Oh well...
First dropped off @ this lucky something temple that's really near Century Park Hotel. Took quite a number of photographs. I think this is the only day that dearie and i took the most photographs cos it was sight-seeing day. After that, the driver brought us to a number of duty-free jewellery shops. You'll probably think that it was really nice of them to do that. But there's something behind that facade, and that is whenever they bring customers to a duty free shop, they'll get this coupon that enables them to get free fuel for their tuk-tuk. Now you know why... Well anyway, the things at the jewellery didn't really catch my eyes. I still prefer the current one that i'm wearing that dearie bought from Thailand the previous time he went with his classmates.=)

Me taking the Tuk-Tuk
Finally reached Grand Palace. It's big! I walked till i dropped. After visiting a no. of temples, i got really bored cos they looked the same to me. All golden and shiny and of the same shapes too!!! haha... This is called non-appreciation... That's me... hee... After the Grand Palace, we bumped into the manager of the Grand Palace and he suggested that we go to the Marble Temple as well as the Golden Mount. So he hired another tuk tuk that brought us there as well as a no. of duty free shops again. Took a few photographs at the Marble Temple, but din take any at the Golden Mount. I was really sick of temples already.

As usual, things din go as what we planned cos we only expected to visit Grand Palace b4 making our way to Chinatown. So, as you can see, we din make it to Chinatown. We went to MBK (again) to shop. Yes, MBK is that big. I shopped there for 3 days!!! (and so did Weirong) But b4 shopping, we went to this Thai restaurant near there. The food's really gd. I love the tom yum soup.... Yum yum... I love Tom Yum. Even dearie. He used to dislike the taste of tom yum, but he sort of began to like it gradually as much as i do now!!!
One whole day of walking... Was so tired. Reached the hotel ard 11 plus. Took a bath b4 we went to the nearby massage place to have a massage. It was a 2-hr Thai massage. The place is very nice. It's very japanese... With pebbles on the flr as a path way leading to rooms that's so japanese. Each person was 600 batt. Hotel's one really expensive. It was 600 batt for only 1 hr. The massage was so gd that i fell asleep in the middle of it, but woke up cos had to change positions. All in all, i'm so in love with Bangkok already...
05 July 2005
We'd decided that it shld be a 100% pure shopping day cos we're flying back the next day. So, no tuk-tuk, neither sky train. We walked. Walked to alot of unknown shopping centers. who cares anyway? So as long as i get to shop... Went to Pratunam Market (Weirong says his hotel's there. I'll stay there the next time. He says his hotel's gd). After that to some unknown shopping center again... just walked and walked and our last destination of shopping was at again MBK.
Went to Patpong in the evening time with our hands full of shopping carriers already. (xinyi, you'll really love it there. It's a shopping paradise) Wanted to look for some nice restaurant to eat, walked so much, legs already threatening to give way and still couldn't find one nice restaurant. *sigh*
Walked to this Mexican restaurant. Actually wanted to eat in there. But, there was this ah gua who came out and started talking to us. Oh my gosh, i moment i saw him? her? dearie and i just decided we shld just continue walking and look for other restaurants despite our legs complaining...
Finally, huang(2) tian(1) bu(2) fu(4) ku(3) xin(1) ren(2), we walked to this very authentic Japanese restaurant. Why authentic??? cos it's very Japanese... All the waitresses knew how to speak in Japanese (and din noe english). Dearie and i were the only non-japanese customers. Although food's costly (as in compared to other restaurants in Bangkok. The dinner was ard $40+ which is almost the same as dining in restaurant in SG), but the food was really gd. I can't help not to deny that that was the best meal dearie and i both had. i din noe sushi could taste so gd.... Wow...
After dinner, we went to shop at the patpong mkt. Continued to buy alot of stuff. There were a lot of pubs where many pple offered us to go watch the Thai Gal show. But due to time constraint, we din go. (what a pity. It wld be an eye opener... But dearie says the Thai Gal show at Pattaya is nicer, so i'll probably go watch the next time dearie and i go Pattaya.) After Patpong, we went to Suan Lum Night Bazzar. It's like Chatuchak Mkt. There's alot of stalls for you to shop. Many nice pubs. However, if you're looking for cheap beers or drinks, there's this area like a food court that has a stage where pple perform. The drinks there are cheaper.
Reached hotel at ard 1am... By the time we'd finished packing our luggages, it was 3 plus in the morning aredi. To think we went with two luggages, we came back with four (cos i had shopping lists from my mummy and my sister)... You can imagine how many things we'd bought.
Shopping, drinking, eating, walking... They don't seem to balance each other. Which meant i probably grown fatter (again... *sigh*)
Suan Lum Night Bazzar
I'm really looking forward to gg Thailand again... Really looking forward to....
So let me summarize the places that you really must go:
Chatuchak Weekend Market
MBK Shopping Center
Grand Palace
Patpong
Suan Lum Night Bazzar
Pratunam Market
