Bangkok

After slacking for almost 2 mths, i'm finally going on a holiday!!!

Well, it wasn't really planned. Dearie's officier told him to clear some days leave next week and not to let the leave be wasted, we decided to go abroad.

Last sunday, we were walking all ard People's Park Centre trying to look for a nice, cheap place to go. We've looked from Bintan, Phuket, Langkawi etc & finally decided on Bangkok.

We're flying this coming sun 3 july... It's a 4d3n trip. Can't wait for sun to come quick!!! I've been searching thru the net for places to go and to shop... So exiciting...

Well, guess i'm gonna be more broke than ever.. but.... Hmm... shop first! worry later... haha...

George Carlin On Age

Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we're kids?
If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about aging that you think in fractions.
"How old are you?"
"I'm four and a half!"
You're never thirty-six and a half.
You're four and a half, going on five!
That's the key.

You get into your teens, now they can't hold you back.
You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead.
"How old are you?"
"I'm gonna be 16!"
You could be 13, but hey, you're gonna be 16!

And then the greatest day of your life . . . you become 21.
Even the words sound like a ceremony . . .
YOU BECOME 21 YESSSS!!!

But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there?
Makes you sound like bad milk!
He TURNED; we had to throw him out.
There's no fun now, you're just a sour-dumpling.
What's wrong? What's changed?

You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you're PUSHING 40.
Whoa! Put on the brakes, it's all slipping away.
Before you know it, you REACH 50 and your dreams are gone.
But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60. You didn't think you would!

So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60.
You've built up so much speed that you HIT 70!

After that it's a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday!
You get into your 80's and every day is a complete cycle;
you HIT lunch;
you TURN 4:30;
you REACH bedtime.
And it doesn't end there.

Into the 90's, you start going backwards; "I was JUST 92."
Then a strange thing happens.

If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. "I'm 100 and a half!"
May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!

HOW TO STAY YOUNG
1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay "them. "

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. " An idle mind is the devil's workshop." And the devil's name is Alzheimer's.

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love, whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

20 June 2005
I'm surprised that i'm still awake at this hour... I should be sleeping cos i did not have enuf sleep this morning (oh, i meant yesterday). I'm still exhausted from the mahjong game...

Dearie and i din reallly do anything special today (darn, i meant yesterday). After waking up in the afternoon, dearie prepared lunch for me. It was his specialty: Instant noodles. Dun laugh, his instant noodles are really nice. I love eating them. I missed eating them, tt's why i made him cook noodles for me. Had dinner with his family at Whampoa market... where it's famous for its duck rice and rojak. Dinner was yummy yummy yum yum. I ate till my stomach felt like bursting. Yeah, that was how full i was (which means, you can imagine how much i ate).

Went back to his place and watched Rush Hour 2. Dearie and i had watched the film b4. We actually caught the film in Trengganu (dun think it's spelt correctly) with our poly mates. The way Zhang ZiYi "bun" her hair with a chopstick single handed was.... WOW... WOAH... (How the hell did she do that???). I loved the parts when the film ended and they showed all the NG parts... it's cute...

Reached home at 2230. Managed to catch the last bit of the Iron Ladies 2. As I watched the film, many thots ran thru my mind. It takes an enormous lot of courage to accept people who are different from us. Like in our everyday lives, we tend to throw disgusted/weird/(wateva) glances when we see gays, lesbians, and even handicapped pple. Not only that, if your character is more special, pple might look at you at a diff way like you're some alien. i admit that i sometimes do throw these glances to other pple. But come to think of it, sometimes pple dun wan it to happen this way either. It's really diff to accept others who differ so much from us.
Channel 8's showing this Jap series @ 2300. I think it's called "Emergency Room". I personally think that this is one of the series that is worth catching...

Ok, gotta to go to bed now... i'm seeing double aredi... I still have baby sitting to do tmr (gosh, i meant later. Prob in 7 hrs time) and tues... Oh man... tiring...

p.s (for dearie)I'm missing you aredi... so much... Can't wait to see you on tues...

21 June 2005

I've finally realised something gd about this boring hols of mine... And that is, i've started to blog regularly again!!! hee...

Two tiring days of baby sitting.. I'm finally back to my lovely bedroom with the air con on as usual, sitting on the bed and blogging. Met dearie @ Suntec for dinner. We went to the food court to have our dinner. It was delicious. I dun usually fancy food court food but there are some of my fav value for money food... They taste great too!!!

1. Suntec food court (the relatively new one): Taiwan food stall (Prices are avg $5)

2. Le Meriden food court: Korean Bbq food stall (Portions are big enuf. 2 gals can actually share one set. Prices are avg $6)

3. Taka food court: Korean food stall near the jap stall (Prices are avg $6)

4. Bugis food junction: Jap food stall with seats provided (Set meals avg $5.50, with side dish avg $9) It's near the Tepanyaki stall

5. Plaza Singapura food junction: Malay stall (prices are avg $4.50) If i'm not wrong, there are a no. of malay stalls there. It's actually beside the jap stall and the queue is never ending. So it shld be quite easy to go look for it.

Well, these are the few food courts that i can think at the current moment. If you happen to go try it, i hope you'll like it as much as i do. =)

As i walked thru City Link towards Suntec City, "sale" signs were pasted all over the shops due to the annually Great Singapore Sale. They were like hypnotising me to go in and grab all those nice clothes and shoes. But, sadly to say, for this Singapore Sale, i can't buy much stuff cos i've just spent a BOMB on my new beloved phone. So, my bank acc's running quite low... I hate being poor during sales. They always have to do that to me... *sobz* When i do not intend to buy anything, there'll be something nice that catches my eye that tempts me to buy it. And guess what? That is the time when i'm broke. However, whenever i need to buy stuff, i can never accomplish that mission unless i force myself to buy it because it's so expensive or it is not really the one i wanna get (but it's close enuf). *sigh* Life... What can i say about it???

22 June 2005
Rotted at home the whole day... But one thing accomplished, and that is finished reading the novel that i've borrowed from the library. This book is entitled "Wish Upon A Star" by Oliva Goldsmith... Chosen by dearie, hmm, this novel's not bad... I like this part where she wrote

"You might feel that everything came to a fairy tale ending all becasue someone made a wish upon a star.

Choose that if you will, but all novels are, in a sense, fairy tales. they are pulled from the air and creat the magical illusion that the characters you read about are real, are living and the livesthat are described have happened. The novelist imagines and conjures but, when the narration ends, has no more idea of what happens to the characters than you, the reader, does. Fiction is so often preferable to life because sadly, only in fiction acan you write the magical incantation at the end: 'And they lived happily ever after.'"

Such a nice ending... But something sad had to followed. Olivia Goldsmith died after completing this book...

I usually read bks by Robyn Sisman, Marian Keyes, Jane Green, Sophie Kinsella etc. But as you noe our dear Orchard library always have these books loaned out. So poor me... Actually, i dun really like borrowing books from the library. I prefer buying them bcos of the sense of belonging. I can re-read them whenever i want. It's nice. But then, i can't afford to buy books all the time. Cos my acc's running real low. *sobz*

Managed to force myself to go for a jog today... (I'm so proud of myself *smilez*) Although i only managed two rounds, but i perspired like hell... Good, good... Pespiration makes me feel gd. Makes me feel lighter aredi... *grin*

Met Wen for dinner @ our fav corner of Chinatown and that is the infamous porridge stall across the CK Department store. Wei Hong joined us for dinner as well. He's feeling quite down cos he doesn't noe what the girl he's after is thinking. So Wen and i gave some advice. Wei Hong wanted to get his frustration out, so we went to play pool. Hope the pool did really help him vent his frustration...

Oh well... *yawn* i'm tired... It's time for bed.... Nitey nitez...

Mah.... Jong!

Yawnz... I'm so sleepy... Woke up at 1330 after reaching dearie's place at 0730... So early??? Yup, it's tt early... Dearie, Kim Yong, Veron and i went to Terry's place to play mahjong yesterday...

2330 - 0630... We've only managed to complete 2 rounds! That is so freaking slow... It's the slowest of all the times we've played... However, am happy cos dearie and i won some money althou it's not much (yup, little little only).

Somehow, playing mahjong is not about winning money.... The fun part is that thru out the whole nite that you've been playing, you've enjoyed yourself and managed not to lose much as well.

Haa.. Am enjoying this bad "gambling" hobby... *oh my gosh*

Updates!!! Finally

14 June 2005
It's been a really long time since i've blogged regularly. It's partly bcos i still haven got internet access @ home and the other part is bcos i've becoming lazier. (oops) When the semester started, life was hell. I haven got any time to on the computer to blog at all. Tutorials after tutorials, quizzes after quizzes, life was disgusting. Come to think of it, i dun think i had any life at all.

Finally, exams were over, hols started and it's when i realised tt i really had no life. When i stepped into the library a few weeks ago and started to borrow books to read, i realised that university had stripped my life away. My fav hobby, reading was stripped away from my life. I cldn't read story books cos i always had other books to read; my geotech txt bk, my econs txt bk etc. I had to prepare for the coming quizzes, i had to complete the outstanding never ending tutorials. It's really scary now that i've come to realise it.

One month of slacking... Another month to go b4 the semester starts again. This is my last hols... Till i graduate. After this semester, i'll be starting the stupid, cursed half year attachment. 22 weeks actually. However, i do hope i can find a company soon so that i can do the 30 weeks one (so that i can skip a general elective). Working life, damn i really hate it. I can still remember my attachment days in Poly. It really sucked big time. I slogged my life out and all i got was the measly $420/mth pay. Yucks!!! After attachment, i'll be in my final year. (yuck again) This is when final year project will strip my life away. Hols will be used to try to finish up the fyp. See?? No life, no hols.... Boo hoo... One thing comforting thou, that is dearie. Dearie will be joining me in NTU next year. Boy am i looking forward to that day. Can't wait for that time to come where i get to c dearie everyday and whenever i want again. I miss him already (even thou i just met him for dina).

Am so proud of myself. I finally completed my 5th anniversary present for dearie (thou it's two days late. I'm sorry dearie). It's a cross-stitched cushion cover. And oh yeah,

HAPPY 5TH ANNIVERSARY DEARIE!!!

I'm so glad that after 5 years of being together, you still love me so much. You still chose to walk this path with me, taking all my nonsense and stupid bad behaviour/temper. Thank you for loving me so much, so much that i know i'm prob the luckiest gal in the entire world. And bcos all all these and so many other things, i will love you as much, even more than that (even thou you'll try to beat me to it all the time), 4ever and ever.

15 June 2005
Another boring day at home... Haiz. Damn i have no life.

I finally disciplined myself to set the alarm @ 0930 today so that i can go for a run. Guessed what happened?? It had to rain, yeah, rain... And it's cats and dogs!!! To think that i was so proud of myself, what a waste.

But i managed to pull myself for a run in the late afternoon. Only managed to run 2 rounds thou. I was supposed to meet Wen for dinner but my mummy sort of sprained her back, so dinner's cancelled.

Am watching that Jue Dui Superstar show... Saying of that show, i actually saw my friend there. I meant i caught her in the advertisment. Hey Jackie, you're so brave. Thou i heard from Peini that you din get into the finals, you did pretty well in the FIR competition thingy. Well done gal =) I don't think i have the courage to participate, neither do i have the ability to sing that well.

Jackie and Peini are twins. But they are the twins that i've actually managed to differentiate at first sight. Not that they don't look alike, but it's only to a certain degree. Hmm, i wonder how does it feel to have a twin me!!! grin... Come to think of it, i don't think i'll actually like it. Cos i like to be special, i want to have the one and only me!!! hee... Special me, hahaha...

Sigh

Haiz... It's the time of the hols again where i have to be in skul. Nope, not for lessons thou, but for the bidding of my timetable.

Din do really well this semester. Am quite disappointed with my results thou. But then, no choice... What's done is done. I'll just have to live with it.

Timetable sucks. my tues ends at 8pm. and tues is the day dearie has nights off. Well oh well... no choice again...

I hate skul...

Good Manners

During class, a teacher trying to teach good manners asks the students, one by one "Michael, if you were on a date, having supper with a nice young lady, how would you tell her that you have to go to the bathroom?" "Just a minute, I have to go piss." The teacher replied "That would be rude and impolite!" "What about you John, how would you say it?" "I am sorry, but I really need to go to the bathroom, I'll be right back." The teacher responded, "That's better, but it's still not very nice to say the word bathroom at the table." "And you Robin, are you able to use your intelligence for once and show us your good manners?" "I would say: Darling, may I please be excused for a moment, I have to shake hands with a very dear friend of mine, whom I hope you'll get to meet after supper." The teacher fainted.

(Look at the emails pple send me nowadays.... haha)

Woman's Life Cycle (Tell me, is it true???)

What is the difference between girls/woman aged: 8, 18, 28, 38, 48, 58. 68, and 78 ?

At 8 -- You take her to bed and tell her a story.

At 18 -- You tell her a story and take her to bed.

At 28 -- You don't need to tell her a story to take>her to bed.

At 38 -- She tells you a story and takes you to bed.

At 48 -- She tells you a story to avoid going to bed.

At 58 -- You stay in bed to avoid her story.

At 68 -- If you take her to bed, that'll be a story!

At 78 -- What story??? What bed??? Who are you???
